Just wanted to drop you a few lines on Scarlet's progress. She's truly more than we ever imagined. She's the best of every dog we've ever had. She's athletic and agile well beyond her size. We go on a 1 1/2 to 2 mile run daily. Ralph's riding the bicycle and Scarlet is happily running by his side usually with the leash in her mouth. She is getting used to that position and realizing that she doesn't have to pull like a sled dog. The exercise is helping her to heal better on a leash. It also helps her to get rid of some extra energy and relax better. (We think!!)
Scarlet is very aware of what's happening around her. She finds great pleasure in chasing butterflies, bugs and anything that catches her interest at the time. She's going through her "fright and flight" stage so we try to control the extra barking when enough is enough; although her enthusiasm & love of life is very entertaining.
Our granddaughter, Madeline treats Scarlet like a stuffed animal - tug, push, pull or drag - no problem. Scarlet is ready for the next adventure. We really like that about her temperament. She is also equally as excited about everyone she meets.
Scarlet's muscles are getting toned from all the running and her feathering is coming in slowly on her legs and feet. Her tail is very pretty now and its so nice to see her tail in action.(Which is definitely often.) Last weekend a neighbor 'babysat' for the dogs on Saturday afternoon and evening. On Sunday evening, the neighbor came by to see how Scarlet was doing. That is an example of how quickly she makes her way into your heart. What a great joy & pleasure it is to have this animal in our family. Thank you for your excellent breeding standards. Ralph is so glad that he did the homework on selecting a breed that was right for our lifestyle. No, Scarlet is not a saint. She is full of mischief, wonder and surprises and fills our life with joy and wonderful companionship in these trying times. After looking at the pictures on the web site, we can't believe how much Scarlet looks like her dad.
